ZLATEVA WINS 5TH TITLE AT WORLD C’SHIPS – DAY 5

ISTANBUL (September 16) – Stanka Zlateva (BUL) emerged the victor in a chippy 72kg women's final for her fifth title at the senior wrestling world championships.
Zlateva defeated Ekaterina Bukina (RUS) 2-0 (2-0, 2-1) in the final bout of the women's tournament with a penalty point against Bukina for unnecessary roughness with the second period marred by slaps and head butts.
At 67kg, Xi Luozhuoma (CHN) made her debut on the world stage with a 1-0, 1-0 win over Oyunsuren Banzragch (MGL), fighting off a clinch in the second period for her first world crown. For Oyunsuren, it was her third straight silver medal in a major FILA event after finishing runner-up in the 2010 and 2011 Asian championships.
In the earlier rounds, Martine Dugrenier (CAN), seeking her fourth straight 67kg crown, dropped a 2-0 decision to Xi at this non-Olympic weight category. And, at 72kg, Olympic gold medalist Wang Jiao (CHN) appeared listless and lost on the mat in her second round loss to eventual bronze medal winner Ali Bernard (USA).
Five-time former world champion and two-time Olympic bronze medalist Kyoko Hamaguchi also made an early exit with a second-round loss to last year's runner-up Ohenewa Akuffo (CAN).
In men's freestyle, defending champion Viktor Lebedev (RUS) rolled to his second world title, defeating 2006 champ Radoslav Velikov (BUL) 2-0 for the crown.
Earlier, Yang Kyong-Il (PRK), the 2009 champion, was edged 2-1 in the second round by former junior world champ Hassan Rahimi (IRI), who was, in turn, bumped off in the third round by Velikov.
