Japanese Duo One-and-Done on Final Day of Yarygin Grand Prix

KRASNOYARSK, Russia (January 25) – Veterans Shinya MATSUMOTO (JPN) and Katsutoshi KANAZAWA (JPN) both lost in the first round of the Yarygin Grand Prix international wrestling tourney as Japan finished the three-day men's freestyle competition without a medal.

London 2012 Olympic Games bronze medalist Shinichi YUMOTO (JPN) finished ninth place at 57kg for Japan’s highest finish of the competition.

Men’s freestyle

86kg – MATSUMOTO, Shinya (14th, 24 entries)

R1 – lost to Phil KEDDY (USA), 8-9

125kg – KANAZAWA, Katsutoshi (17th, 23 entries)

R1 – lost to Sergey SMERTEV (RUS), 1-7
