SAKAI, Osaka (August 17) – Junior world champion Kanako Murata won her third straight high school girls' wrestling national championship crown at 56kg after winning the previous two years at 60kg.
Murata defeated last year's 52kg champ Hikari Sugawara in the semifinals, but had to rally from behind to defeat Nachi Masuda, 2-1, in the final at Kanaoka Park Gymnasium.
Along with Murata's "three-peat," Eri Tosaka defended her 46kg crown from one year ago and Sara Dosho moved up to 70kg this year from 65kg to win her second national high school championship title.
Two-time Asia cadet winner Nanami Irie triumphed at 49kg.
The champions by weight category were:

43kg – Rie Matsumoto, Shigakkan (Aichi)
46kg – Eri Tosaka, Shigakkan
49kg – Nanami Irie, Kogura Shogyo (Fukuoka)

56kg – Kanako Murata, Abe Gakuin (Tokyo)
60kg – Fusano Mochizuki, Abe Gakuin
65kg – Yoshimi Kayama, Abe Gakuin
70kg – Sara Dosho, Shigakkan
